LA’S CITYWIDE CRAFT-BEER PHENOMENON HAS FOUND A COSY HOME AT FROGTOWN BREWERY, A CRAFT-BEER EMPORIUM OWNED BY OLD FRIENDS AND LONG-STANDING BEER ENTHUSIASTS ADAM KESTEL AND MIKE VOSS.
Tucked in the heart of Frogtown on Gilroy Street, Frogtown Brewery’s industrial-chic aesthetic recalls the neighbourhood’s working-class roots, with many of the area’s original businesses opening at the turn of the 20th century. The brewery’s own output includes traditional IPAs, ales and Saisons, along with a rotation of more adventurous concoctions like Toasted Coconut Porter. Of course, many patrons want to eat while tossing back a pint, and while Frogtown Brewery doesn’t serve food, it does allow guests to order in, and it also hosts a rotating selection of pop-ups from local restaurants. This includes the beloved Frogtowns Gourmet Tacos, which typically sells tacos, quesadillas, handmade tortillas and more from a front yard on the other side of the 2 Freeway.
Like other nearby venues, Frogtown Brewery has a heavy emphasis on community building, serving as a gallery for the work of local artists, organising clean-ups along the LA River and hosting ongoing yoga classes along with weekly Live Music performances featuring independent musicians spanning all genres every Wednesday night. Given Frogtown’s close proximity to Dodger Stadium, the Brewery serves as a meeting spot for fans looking to enjoy a craft beer before or after baseball games.
