From 1961 until the early 90s, Kreuzberg, located on the southern edge of West Berlin, became home to a cosmopolitan melee of immigrants, punks and artists thanks to cheap rents, industrial change and social upheaval. It cultivated a new musical energy, which has lasted until this very day.
